At Fine Point Consulting, we're passionate about helping entrepreneurs grow by managing their finance, accounting, and HR functions—so they can focus on what they do best: innovating. That’s why we were thrilled to send two team members—Adam Gardebrecht, Finance Manager, and Kate Karre, HR Practice Leader—to this year’s Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference, hosted by the Wisconsin Technology Council.

The event was a dynamic gathering of bold thinkers, builders, and backers fueling Wisconsin’s innovation economy. With fresh talent, game-changing ideas, and meaningful conversations throughout, it left our team feeling energized and inspired.

A New Wave of Energy and Engagement

Having attended in the past, Adam expected to reconnect with familiar faces. Instead, he and Kate were struck by just how rapidly Wisconsin’s entrepreneurial landscape is evolving.

“The level of engagement from both startups and the broader support network was remarkable,” said Adam. “It felt as though everyone was united in championing Wisconsin’s entrepreneurial spirit.”

That energy wasn’t just in the networking halls—it was embedded in the sessions, keynotes, and even casual conversations.

Powerful Insights from the Main Stage

One standout moment came from keynote speaker Scott Becker, who challenged attendees to define their niche early. While many entrepreneurs are taught to cast a wide net at the beginning, Becker advocated for clarity and focus from the start. This insight particularly resonated with Adam, who noted that a well-defined niche can bring sharper strategic direction in the crucial early stages of growth.

Spotlight on Wisconsin Innovation

Both Adam and Kate were impressed by the startups spotlighted during the Diligent Dozen and Open Mic sessions. Some companies that stood out included:

  • Induction Technologies – A kiln technology producing biochar faster for agriculture.
  • Strudel AI – Leveraging AI for business intelligence.
  • Sea Change Silicides – Innovators in orthopedic implant coatings.
  • Cyber Talent AI – Tackling the tech skills gap with intelligent hiring tools.
  • BreezyFile – Automating sales tax filings.
  • FerroMX – Developing advanced battery polymer tech.
  • Cell Track – Innovating digital wildlife tracking and telemetry.

They were particularly inspired by companies deeply rooted in Wisconsin values—innovation in agriculture, manufacturing, and life sciences. Businesses like Saturn Agrisense, Galasys, and Phoenix Aid exemplify how homegrown ventures are solving local and global problems with ingenuity.

Building a Collaborative Future

The conference wasn’t just about startups pitching ideas—it was about building relationships. Kate highlighted her connection with Cecily Brose from UW-Madison’s Discovery to Product (D2P) program. “Meeting people like Cecily, who are actively supporting entrepreneurs behind the scenes, reinforced the strength of the ecosystem here,” she said.

The most valuable conversations? Those where the focus wasn’t just on “what can you do for me,” but “how can I help you?”

Looking Ahead — and Building What’s Next

The Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference was more than just an inspiring event—it was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when innovation meets collaboration. As Adam put it, the passion and conviction of the entrepreneurs in attendance weren’t just motivating—they were a call to action.

At Fine Point Consulting, we believe that a thriving startup ecosystem depends on strong, trusted partnerships.

“Wisconsin’s startup scene is on the rise,” said Kate. “To help it grow, we need to continue being strategic allies—freeing up founders to focus on product, growth, and vision while we handle the operational side.”

Both Adam and Kate agree: if you’re thinking about attending next year’s conference, don’t hesitate. Whether you’re a founder, an investor, or someone working to support innovation in Wisconsin, this event is a true catalyst for connection and growth.
